Grrrrr. Sometimes I just hate Walmart

August 11th, 2005 at 02:54 pm

We went to pick up our pictures on Tuesday night. According to the store's schedule, they would have been there on
Monday, but I didn't have time to go there then...so we went Tuesday. Of course, they're not there. The man behind
the counter said if they're on a disc, sometimes they take an extra day. I pointed out that I'd left them an extra day -
to which he counted on his fingers and replied 'Oh yeah, huh? Well I don't know why they're not here then, check back
tomorrow.'

So Kevin went to pick them up last night. First of all, when I took the Hawaii pictures in, the disc I took had 200 photos.
When I picked up the pictures, they charged me for 219 photos. I asked them why and they told me that's what was
on the disc. I knew it wasn't but didn't have a way to prove it, so I paid for them. Of course when I got home and began
to put the photos in the album, there were EXACTLY 19 duplicate photos. So THIS time, I double checked each disc I
was going to take in and I wrote the number of photos ON the disc - both for myself for reference and so that they could
see that I had counted the pictures and would only pay for exactly that amount. I even specified in the 'special instruction'
box to 'print exactly X photos - NO DUPLICATES'. So when Kevin got the photos, guess what? You guessed it, they
charged us for a TON of duplicates. One of the discs had 168 photos - they charged us for 220!!! One disc had 80 photos
and they charged us for 96; the last disc had 234 photos and they charged us for 278. Kevin began to look through
the photos and in one packet, he pulled out at least 10 duplicates. It was almost closing time and he told the guy 'look,
you either charge us for exactly the number of photos listed on the discs, or I will stay here until I look through every
last photo and pull out the duplicates.' The guy finally said okay, he'd charge us only for the number on the discs. The
kicker is, their sign says the prints we ordered were 17 cents each...the guy charged Kevin TWENTY ONE cents each!!
I'm going back today to talk to the manager. It's a difference of about $20.00 that we were over charged. Not a huge
amount of money, but it's much better in OUR pocket than in theirs! I don't mind paying for what we ordered, but I
don't think we should be charged one penny more. And believe me, I can certainly raise a stink about something until
I get what I want. The LAST time I got peeved at Walmart a few years ago (for good reason I might add), I wrote to
their corporate office. I was shocked when they actually called me to discuss the situation, apologized and sent us
a $100.00 gift card. I hope it doesn't come to that - hopefully I can resolve it in the store today. However, if I can't, I
see another letter to the corporate office coming their way!!

I've had major trouble with Sam's Club's photo department too. I wrote a nasty letter to the manager last year. I should have sent it to the corporate office though, because I never heard a word about it. Good luck!
