Train-ing

Well, we've decided that, with the outrageous price of gasoline, Kevin is going to try taking the Metro into work. We think
it will work out well. He currently pays $30.00 per month for his parking space. Though the commute isn't really that
far, there are times that he just sits in traffic that doesn't move - which uses up a lot of gas. He fills the tank an average
of 3 1/2 times per month at approximately $30.00 per fill. By taking the Metro, he will pay $52.00 per month for the
rail pass and only have to fill the car about twice a month. We will still end up saving money in the long run -- especially
since they are now saying that the price of a gallon of gas is going to continue to climb. Great.

In that same vein, I am going to check with one of our teachers to see if she'd like to carpool. Maybe not even everyday
but every other day - we would both still end up saving on gas in the long run. I don't know if she'll want to, but she
only lives about 5 blocks from us, so it's worth asking. As it is, it only takes me about 7 minutes to get to work, so it's
not a long commute, but hey, every little bit helps!

I got the rest of my paycheck today. However, the payroll clerk tried to get me to wait until the first of the month. I
was afraid that something else might happen since that's not my normal time to get paid, so I told her I really needed
it today...and she said fine. Thank goodness. I like her - she's a really nice lady, but she makes a TON of mistakes. Not
really a plus for someone in her position! I figured better safe than sorry =)

I bought two boxes of Cheerios over the weekend. Both of them have a code inside for a free box by logging on and completeing a form...so we'll be getting two FREE boxes of cereal! Free is always good in my book.

We were sooo exhausted when we got home from the Dodger game yesterday. It was mercilessly hot out there - I thought
we were going to have a heat stroke. Anyway, when we got home I was so tempted to just say 'lets order out for dinner',
but I was VERY good and quickly put the chicken in the oven to bake before I could utter those budget busting words. LOL
Besides, we already had biscuits leftover from breakfast and we'd picked up two deli salads that were on sale Saturday at the
market - so I really didn't have to do to much to finish up dinner. Still, I was proud of myself for sticking to my guns and
not spending money going out.
