Another percent

Kevin decided that we could add another 1% to his 401k at work. Fine with me! The more we can save, the better
off we'll be. That brings his total contribution to 11%; his employer matches 5%. That's just the 401k - they also
have a company pension plan for which Kevin is eligible. As for me, my employer takes 7% right off the top of my salary;
they put that away for retirement - they then contribute 9.34% to my retirement. We feel so fortunate to be able to
do this - before any employer contributions are added in, we are contributing 18% to our retirement funds!!

I think we'll also be getting a small increase in salary at work in November. I plan on taking whatever the new amount is
and socking that away in our credit union savings account. We've been putting $850.00 a month in that account - I want
it to be $1,000.00 a month by the end of the year. We also have our own individual 'fun money' accounts - we'll keep
those as they are so we have a little something to play with. Kevin usually uses it for umpire supplies and equipment, and
I usually use it for girls day lunches, clothes - things that aren't really necessary, but are sure fun!

I found another Christmas gift I'd like to buy, but I want to wait until September 10th - I will have gotten my second
paycheck of the year by then and things will be a little more comfortable. The gift is a really nice chef's knife for Deb.
She looked at it over the summer and decided that it was way too expensive. I found it through a catalog for about
half of what she found it for. However, the deal ends on September 30th, so I have make SURE I order it before then.
Shouldn't be a problem =)
